I'd rather watch a feature length of this than that terrible Michael Bay monstrosity!

I want, nay, NEED more.

This is the first animation on newgrounds in a long time to make me laugh what-so-ever. A longer sequel would make me so incredibly joyous.

Piderman is basically my most favoritist thing evar.

The ending made it go from flattering to rad.

Hey, I enjoyed that a lot. It's interesting to see another artist's take on a scene from a movie that I made. The mixture of sonic stereo and my movie was really creative, and I'm surprised that never even crossed my mind.

I loved it, and I loved the ending. So true.

- Fun fact: I've met Sean Ono Lennon. He makes fantastic music, you should check it out.

:D

Rad.

Haha, a tribute? That's so rad. I would never have expected that.

Thanks.

As far as the animation it's self, well done, the comedic timing was right on.

Have you ever actually been to Albuquerque?

Believe it or not I'm actually going to Albuquerque twice within the next week. I'm driving, so no need to worry about planes.

Haha, I just never knew that song was actually about Albuquerque, New Mexico. I thought it was just used as a generic city name. Funny thing is, I actually had a similar Donut Store incident tonight. They didn't have my bavarian cream filled donuts I wanted so bad. So what I live in Santa Fe, that's less than an hour away. I LIVED THAT SONG!

Thanks for reminding me of that song. It's a good laugh when you actually know the town first hand.

Dynomite.

Yeah, basically that was great. Good job and all that jazz. Make another, you guys rock.

Blah, blah, blah.

No but seriously, that was one of the best flashes I've ever seen. The humor was fun. Yeah, fun. woo.

Thank God...

It's been a while since I've fully enjoyed a TN episode, they seemed a little "bleh" ever since ben left. But I've gotta say this episode just plain kicked ass. You guys are really getting your shit together. This is quality enough I could certainly see it on TV.

Good job and all that shit! I hope to see more episodes like this.

Thanks for ruining a great song.

Typically, I don't vote based on pure distaste for what was done with the movie. I usually give it a chance due to talent, time spent, and artistic ability. This movie on the other hand, just left such a foul taste in my mouth I couldn't help but give it such a poor score.

I love the source material. Mad World by Gary Jules and by Tears for Fears are both fantastic songs. They are very deep and very though provoking. And that is what really got me with this collaboration, the lack of thinking. Most authors took the song by it's surface value, it really kills me to see someone take such a song and take the lyrics so very literally. Some even misinturpreted the lyrics, they made them silly and stupid. That is quite upsetting.

Next time you try to make a movie like this, try and get a group of people who are willing to agree on making a movie that has feeling. Not just another collab that was thrown together just to latch on to something cool or popular. Try to agree on a simple style or understanding for the song. Simple attempts to link the movie together better and understand your source material could make a movie like this ten times better than what you have here.

I'm sorry about being so negative, but I just can't stand seeing a song like this being so poorly represented. :P

Helbereth responds:

You're not the first to have this particular problem with what has been presented. Had I ever heard the song before signing on I might have put a bit more thought into what should go into it, but a lot of clips that don't really fit were approved before I could do do anything to prevent their showcasing.

One thing you really must understand is that a collab like this one -- with so many authors -- is bound to have a few people miss the point, or simply translate the song differently. Many authors were only privy to the 3-4 second clip of the song that they were working on, and a line like 'happy birthday', no matter how it's sung can mean lots of things. Remove the context of the lyrics and you open up any of them to become something else.

There was no realistic way to link any of the clips together since -- and this is the biggest problem -- nobody was in direct contact with anyone else. Had there been some way for 25 people on 3 continents to sit down and discuss each clip with easy feedback, Q&A, or even storyboarding, there may have been a bit more cohesion, but considering more than half of them are under 16, I'm pretty sure that couldn't have happened without breaking a few international laws.

Lastly, I'm not going to agree with the poor representation. IMHO this collab -- as disjointed as it is -- represents the many facets of the song as intended by the songwriter as well as the singer. Granted some clips go a bit overboard and drift into the realm of absurdity, but I think the song has something to do with that as well.

But alas, interpretation is the device of the viewer, and I cannot fault you for your perception.

Thanks for the review. I really am glad to read ones like this -- they're far more informative than 'That was great!' or 'You made me cry!' or 'I hate you for assassinating my contrived delusion!'...

Scratch that last one, I don't think most reviewers here even have a concept of what a 'delusion' is... and most of them can barely spell 'ass' much less 'assassinate'...

I'm going to stop typing now, I think I'm tired...

Wow, way to ruin a great song.

You know that MIGHT have been funny if you even knew what an emo was and what one looked like. Most depictions of an emo kid in that collab didn't even fit the most generic of emo stereotypes. Just having a kid wearing mascara and black clothing doesn't make them emo, and actually it's usually to the contrary. If you want to hear emo music look up bands like Scary Kids Scaring Kids, or The Used. It's sad that this song is actually describing what these kids look like, yet you guys can't even manage to realistically depict them. Pitiful.

Also, Linkin Park isn't emo. It sucks, but it isn't emo. To make a joke including Linkin Park in a movie making fun of emos ruins all the funny the movie could have. It's just such a common joke that is also such a common mistake.

Finally, saying "LOL LAZINESS" isn't funny, it's annoying. It's just an easy excuse to put your name on this shitty cartoon.

Do I hear greatest clay animation ever?! No?

Nice one, Sam. The animation was a little jerky, but it's really funny so who cares?
